Enjoying Nature Together
The Dunshaughlin Tidy Towns Group are proud to share plans for a community improvement initiative called the “Dunshaughlin Sensory and Remembrance Garden” to be located in Dunshaughlin Park. However we can’t do it without the help of the entire community.
The launch of the “Dunshaughlin Sensory and Remembrance Garden” is a significant step towards creating a more inclusive and environmentally conscious community. This initiative will not only provide a new green space for the village but will also promote climate action. Creating a space that not only stimulates the senses but also serves as a place of remembrance.
The garden will provide numerous benefits to the community including:
Increased Community Engagement: The gardens will stimulate our senses through touch, sight, scent, taste, and hearing.
Promotes Biodiversity: The gardens will encourage the use of a native plants and provide pollinator friendly landscaping driving climate action.
Educational: The gardens will be an interactive learning zone full of exciting things to touch and smell.
Socializing Space: The gardens will provide a new community space perfect for socialising and holding events; connecting people, plants, and places.
Promotes Mental Health: The gardens will bolster mental health by providing a unique and stimulating environment while also providing a space for reflection with scented plants and restful seating. The addition of a quiet reflective space dedicated to pregnancy and infant loss will provide a compassionate space for people to pause and reflect on the lives that have deeply touched their own in a tranquil environment.
These benefits make the sensory and remembrance garden a valuable addition to Dunshaughlin enhancing the quality of life for its residents and visitors alike.
This journey will bring people together, raise awareness, finances, knowledge and motivate climate action. It will engage children, young people, families, older people, and particularly people across all abilities and developmental conditions. Creating an inclusive society for all while “nurturing nature together”.
Detailed plans have been received from a landscape architect, with a focus on themes of nature, the senses and remembrance. However, to make the Dunshaughlin Sensory and Remembrance Garden a reality we need your help. A grant application has been submitted to support the implementation of initiative however this grant is required to be supplemented by community funding.
This is where you come in!
To help raise the required funds together with a gofund me drive the Dunshaughlin Tidy Towns Group will be running a Raffle with some very exciting prizes.
Your support would be greatly appreciated, helping in making the “Dunshaughlin Sensory and Remembrance Garden” a reality.
